Our local Carrie’s Heart projects focus on meeting the social, enrichment, community involvement and networking needs of our special children and their families in greater Houston. Our goal is to bring together individuals, families, businesses and organizations in the local community that will form an informal network of support for our growing Carrie’s Heart family.
Special Events are held throughout the year for our Carrie’s Heart kids and their family and friends, including holiday parties, bowling and movie outings. Attendees enjoy the safe and accepting environment of our Carrie’s Heart family. Carrie’s Heart collaborates with local community organizations and businesses to sponsor activities that encourage children with disabilities to interact with their peers. These inclusive activities provide great rewards and meaningful relationships for all involved as they help to tear down the misconceptions and social barriers
that can exist for our children and their families.
Project Potential provides financial sponsorship for individual children with disabilities to participate in summer enrichment opportunities including:
• animal assisted therapies
• art and theater classes
• music and swimming lessons
• social skills programs
• summer camps
Project Potential allows children the opportunity to gain valuable skills and experiences by participating in community activities alongside their peers. These activities are otherwise unaffordable for these families.
